After being very popular in the first decades of the XIX century, the guitar was relegated to a minor role during the Romantic era: because of this, Tárrega, Llobet and Segovia all shared an idea of their instrument as something to be re-established. With this starting-point, attention inevitably fell on Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, the Viennese classics par excellence. All these three “fathers of the guitar” approached these composers with their own personal musical sensibility and different instrumental ideas.
